THE FREEDOM TOWER

8 hours a day in an 8 X 8 foot box,
Wondering when I will finally get a chance to change these sweaty sox.

It's a part of the job that takes me so far from home,
Not a soul within 5 miles, I guess you can say I'm alone.

Long days make late nights often with little sleep,
But I get the job done, and you will never hear me weep.

It's hotter than hell and these bugs are insane,
2 long months left, and I'm back on the plane.

I use the phone and internet to keep in touch with friends,
Making plans for the days at home that I wish would never end.

Tomorrow when I wake up I will need my caffeine,
But I will still thank God I'm a U.S. Marine.
